Online music stores keep popping up nowadays. A new entry is MusicHead MP3 online store that’s a joint venture between EMI Australia and 7digital. MusicHead MP3 is a download service that sells Digital Rights Management-free (DRM-free) MP3 music online.
Obviously, the contents of the web site would be from artists signed by EMI, one of the big four in the music industry. Aside from international EMI artists, it also contains Australian artists in the mix. The tracks that sell for AU$1.69 (same as BigPond Music Service’s) are in 320Kbps bitrate MP3 format. While iTunes already sells DRM-free files, they’re in AAC format. MP3 files can be played most anywhere using a range of devices including iPods.
