One of the best things about my job is seeing amazing new gadgets. The new Microsoft Mini Mouse 8000 is a superb example of this. Here Microsoft have addressed a growing dilemma : we're running out of USB ports! They've solved this by combining a 1GB USB Flash Drive into the USB mouse transceiver - so logical yet no one's done it till now.

Other exciting features of this tiny wonder are 2.4GHz wireless technology, USB rechargeable with magnetic connectors, high definition laser technology and a battery life indicator.

It's not much of a surprise that the Microsoft Mobile Memory Mouse 8000 has already scooped up a Design and Engineering Award at Innovations International CES.

Microsoft Sidewinder Gaming Mouse : Fast, comfortable, precise

Looks like Microsoft Mouse labs are heating up with some hot gaming gadgets! The Microsoft Sidewinder Mouse looks like a serious attempt by Microsoft to get some gamer dollars and they've done a decent job.

Like the serious Logitech gaming mice, the Sidewinder also features adjustable mouse weights so you can add and remove so that it feels just right. The extra wide scroll wheel also looks like it could come in handy particularly in zooming in and out (dependent on what game). Apparently it's also the first mouse with and LCD display that shows DPI settings - never really paid much attention to this in the past but I guess with trigger / feather-touch games it's an important factor?

Microsoft Natural Wireless Laser Mouse 6000 Review : As usual, love Microsoft's MICE!

Microsoft keyboards and mice have always rated high in my books.

It was a blessing in disguise when I started my new IT contract with a grimy, worn and bits-of-food-infested keyboard and mouse. Whoever was a previous owner was a grot. The keyboard was uncomfortable (old acer) as the keys were hard and stubborn. The mouse was so 2005 with only 2 click buttons and scroll wheel.

So, naturally, I jumped on Microsoft's website for their latest offerings. The Microsoft Natural Wireless Laser Mouse 6000 stood out. Mark ordered one for me and I smiled as I tucked away the old and setup the new.

The first thing that strikes you about the Microsoft Natural Wireless Laser Mouse 6000 is it's tilted design. When I look at my hand as I type, it makes sense - our hands naturally rest on an angle. It took some minutes to get used to but now I'm using it hours on end without any discomfort.

It has the standard right and left buttons and scroll wheel, with the addition of two buttons above the thumb which are programmable. I use these as my 'back' and 'forward' buttons for web surfing. The default action for one of these extra buttons is the 'magnifier' function. This is pretty cool - simply press the button then it will highlight and magnify whatever you are viewing.

I also own 2 x Razor Copperhead Mice (one for home and other for laptop) and it felt kinda weird with my thumb not resting on buttons. But the thumb-groove is soft and grippy and allows for comfortable thumb placement.

Movement is precise and smooth. Being laser you're guarantee accurate pointing.
Still monitoring the battery life, but 1 week in battery indicator hasn't flashed red. I'll be happy if the battery at least lasts for 1 or 2 months before I need to change.

I rate the Microsoft Natural Laser Wireless Mouse 6000 at 9/10.

Microsoft Natural Ergonomic Desktop 7000: Comfy!

The mouse in the Microsoft Natural Ergonomic Desktop 7000 is reason enough to grab one of these! If you've ever tried holding and handling Microsoft's ergonomic range, you'll really appreciate the great designs that they have come up with. You can really tell they have put so much emphasis on natural curves that your hands just naturally grab on to the keyboard or mouse. But that's not all they implemented on these peripherals. The mouse uses laser tracking (more accurate and easier to use than optical), long battery life, the keyboard also has a battery life indicator as well as hot keys and a host of other little features. It's hard to get excited about a keyboard and mouse but when you've held one of these in your hands, you won't want to let go!

It wasn't until a few weeks ago that I noticed my fingers shaking involuntarily when moved to certain positions and the realization of good ergonomics and good computer habits hit me. The importance of an ergonomic mouse is now high on my list and although most are in a higher price bracket than most, it's a price well paid for. The Microsoft Natural Wireless Laser Mouse 6000 is more than just a wireless laser mouse. It is first and foremost a natural ergonomic mouse, as the name suggests. The aim of this game is to relieve stress from the wrist and carpal tunnel and the Microsoft Natural Wireless Laser Mouse 6000 does this by a slight redesign of the overall shape of the mouse and therefore how your hand sits on it. Because of the way your hand rests on the mouse, tension is reduced and theoretically should increase productivity, not to mention the lifespan of your hand and wrist!

The Microsoft Natural Wireless Laser Mouse 6000 doesn't skimp out on features either. With a laser engine and wireless connection, this mouse is up there with the trend setters with the added feature of being comfortable.
