HTC Shift : Shifting to a new dimension of UMPCs!

HTC Shift Image LinkI'm so in love with HTC gadgets. They're always at the forefront with their PocketPCs and most of their gear is top drawer.

Introducing one of their latest products the HTC Shift (aka Shangri-La). It is a UMPC (Ultra Mobile Portable Computer) that looks to be perfect for road warriors.

Earlier this year I had my heart set on getting a HTC Advantage however my focus has changed to this beast. This suits my purpose of blogging-on-the-run more with the solid built in keyboard and larger keys. I know it's bigger but if you're going to be carrying a 5" screen device, 2" is not going to make a huge diff.

Key Features of the HTC Shift
- 7-inch widescreen display
- 30-gigabyte hard drive
- QWERTY keyboard
- Microsoft Vista Business OS
- Windows Media Player 11
- Tri-Band UMTS/HSDPA
- Quad-Band GSM/GPRS/EDGE
- WiFi and Bluetooth 2.0

Keep em coming HTC!

Another HTC Touch Video

The more I see the HTC Touch in action the more it grows on me. Despite it being a version 1.0, the fact that you don't have to use your stylus much is very appealing. Given the thin and small size of stylii these days (especially the iMate Jasjam's) I would much prefer using my fingers.

Here's another HTC Touch video that shows it's innovative UI:

HTC Touch: Can't Touch This....Yet

HTC Touch official webpageHTC have yet unveiled another one of their creations. This time its the HTC Touch, a PDA Phone, no doubt set to combat the advancement of the iPhone. Which makes me wonder why it's taking Apple so long. I mean, if HTC can pull one of these out of (relatively) thin air in a (relatively) short amount of time, surely Apple could too?

The HTC Touch features a new way to touch that touch screen. They call it, TouchFLO which lets you scroll and pan through pages with your fingers. I'm guessing without the need for scroll bars? Otherwise that would just be silly. I'm just glad they didn't call it iFLO or iTouch. Running on Windows Mobile 6, the Touch comes with all the usual Windows Mobile applications, has in-built Bluetooth and WiFi, a 2 megapixel camera and Triband GSM. All this I reckon makes for a decent enough pda but slightly just short for us uber geeks who want every wireless standard and what not.

Features of the HTC Touch:

- TouchFLO
- Large 2.8 inch touch screen display
- Tri-band GSM with GPRS/EDGE
- 2 megapixel camera
- Internet browsing and Push E-mail
- Multimedia capabilities
- Stereo Bluetooth 2.0 and Wi-Fi
