Telstra Broadband Wireless 2 : Connects fast

Approximately 2 weeks ago I upgraded my Telstra Broadband Wireless PCMCIA card to the new NextG version.

The improvements feature an in-built stubby antenna instead of the flimsy-easily-breakable antenna of the previous model. One other major improvement is the connection speed, i.e. the time it takes for the card to connect to the network. The last card took around 10-15 seconds this card only takes 3!

Although it's pricey, the ability to download your email and surf the web on a persistent connection, just about anywhere, makes it worth it.

Telstra NextG 3G Network: Is it good for you?

Today I jumped onto the Telstra NextG network quite easily - just went to the T-Shop and got a new 3G Telstra SIM and within minutes I was surfing the web!

To be honest I thought that it would be faster considering that I was in the heart of Melbourne where you would expect would have the best coverage. Despite the fact that I had to wait for around 4-5 seconds for pages to load I was still overall pleased with being able to surf and possibly blog on the run.

Who else has tried it out?
