Last June, the Firefox Mobile browser codenamed “Fennec” was only a concept Mozilla is working on. Rumors came out that the target release date is 2010, but it was debunked later afterwards. A recent interview with Mozilla CEO revealed that we’ll be seeing the Firefox Mobile real soon though.

This comes off as no surprise to me—Google co-founder Sergey Brin expects a Chrome mobile web browser for Google Android handsets in the future. Although the Google Chrome and the Google Android were developed by two separate teams, having one parent company makes this, for me at least, inevitable.

Google unveiled a surprise product yesterday—the Google Chrome open-source web browser. And, in a move that’s quite Google-like, the world first knew of this browser through an online comic book. According to the Google blog, since the company employees were always working on a browser, it only seemed natural to work on one.

Yep, you do have alternatives to consider like the recently released Opera Mobile 9.5, but I’m sure there are some who really do prefer the Skyfire web browser above others. The good news is that Skyfire is now offering a mobile web browser compatible with Symbian s60-based devices. That’s great to hear especially to Nokia fans.

We’ve known about the Opera Mobile 9.5 mobile browser since it was announced earlier this year, but it seems the release of the first beta has been pushed back a few times already. Following the browser’s inclusion in some handsets including the HTC Touch Diamond, the beta version 1 has now been released.

Yes, Firefox is really coming to mobile devices. Firefox Mobile (codenamed Fennec) is still in the experimental stages and it’s not yet known when it’ll become available to the masses. In fact, there still isn’t a working demo available of the actual browser itself, but this demo of a mock-up user interface shows quite a promising future for Firefox Mobile.

I’m a big fan of Firefox, so when news arrived through my RSS feed that Firefox 3 (in final testing stages) will come with major speed improvements, my ears (eyes) pricked up. When it comes to processing Javascript, Firefox 3 will be 9.3x faster than Microsoft Internet Explorer. For Gmail it will be 6.8x faster than MIE. Decent improvement if you ask me.

Other improvements include a more complex bookmarking system, changes in location bar and handy tab saving abilities.

If it weren’t for web presentation / CSS issues with IE6, I wouldn’t touch Internet Explorer at all.

Can’t wait!
