In Australia, there are many Android fans frothing at the mouth (ok maybe not so rabid) waiting for what could be one of 2011′s best smartphones – the Samsung Galaxy S II. As we shared in a previous post, there’s good reason why the Samsung Galaxy S II is Samsung’s flagship Android device.

The Samsung Galaxy S II will be one of 2011′s best selling Android devices. As we talked about a couple of weeks ago, the Samsung Galaxy II S features an incredible balance of power (dual core processor) as well as stylish thin form factor (measuring 8.49mm at thinnest point). As a total package, the Samsung Galaxy S II is exactly what Android pro-sumers are looking for. If you’re in Australia, expect to see this being released by Telstra this month.

The image above is taken from Samsung’s first commercial video for the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S II smartphone. We’ve posted the clip below so you can see how the little girl mistakes the little clown fish swimming on her (or sadly her parent’s) Samsung Galaxy S II as a real fishy. Concerned for its welfare, she tenderly plonks the phone in the goldfish bowl so it can ‘be happy’ again. The point of the video, of course, is to emphasize the vivid and clear display of the Samsung Galaxy S II‘s Super AMOLED Plus display. We know a lot of you out there who are keen to own this device are a lot smarter, but just in case you haven’t noticed yet, there is a disclaimer on the video saying that the Samsung Galaxy S II is in fact, NOT waterproof.

Last month we shared how LG released the thinnest smartphone in the world, the LG Optimus Black. Today, Samsung looks like they’ve usurped that title with the new Samsung Galaxy S II that has just been announced at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. The new Samsung Galaxy S II is ultra slim, measuring a mere 8.49mm deep!Â

Took this photo this morning to give you a size comparison of the iPad, Samsung Galaxy Tab (currently reviewing) and the iPhone 4. Some people think that the Samsung Galaxy Tab is far too big to use on a daily basis or as a replacement for their current smartphone. As for me, the more I use it, the more I get used to and like the larger screen real estate especially for eBook reading, Twitter and Facebook!

The just newly Australian-released Samsung Galaxy S has been awarded a coveted “Cnet Editor’s Choice”. Although some of the negative feedback was directed at its iPhone-copycat design and plasticky feel, Cnet loved the stunning Super AMOLED display, support for DivX and FLAC and great overall online performance.
For me, the super AMOLED 4″ screen running on the Android OS is ultra appealing.
