The accolade of “Best of CES 2009″ that the Palm Pre received wasn’t just because it looked good – this baby is also seriously jam-packed with some groovy functionality.
The foundation of the exciting new Palm is built on the zippy OMAP3430 processor and Palm’s new webOS. With these as building blocks, it seems Palm has picked up where Apple left off: integration with contacts and calendar, multitasking, native tethering, Bluetooth data synch, Bluetooth A2DP, cut ‘n’ paste and of course, promise of a ready turn-by-turn GPS app.

After watching this video, it’s hard not to love the Palm Pre; particularly for someone who will be potentially using it in a similar fashion: organizing calendar events and sharing cool links with others regularly.
Just another reason why the Palm Pre will be one of 2009′s hottest smartphones / PDAs.

Sprint have just released the official specifications of the upcoming Palm Pre and I must say the list pretty much confirms that this will be my new phone. The list is exactly as we reported this time last month except for the tethering capability – pleasant surprise!
Features that tickle my fancy are the 3 Megapixel camera with extended depth of field, Bluetooth A2DP (means you can stream stereo quality music through to like-Bluetooth gadgets), tethering ability and of course the slide-out QWERTY keyboard (something I miss having).
Palm Pre Specifications:
Mid-March is the date when Sprinters should be able to get their hands on one. As for when it’ll be available in Australia and who’ll be carrying it, that has yet to be confirmed.
I’ll be in line though don’t you worry! Will you?

Curious to find out what the Palm Pre fuss is all about?
Phonescoop‘s video gives us an insightful preview to what could possibly be the closest thing to an iPhone 3G killer ever.
As mentioned in my previous Palm Pre post, I am attracted mostly by the speed of this new PDA phone. Built in QWERTY and cut ‘n’ paste functionality also brings happy thoughts to my head. This could be the phone the ends my iPhone love-affair…

Last year, it was all about the iPhone 3G but 2009 looks to be the year that Palm shows the world that it is not about to curl up and die but win back many lost fans and more with its new amazingly fast Palm Pre.
Check out the videos on the Engadget link below and you’ll see how fast it scrolls/redraws webpages and flicks between apps. Truly blazing.
The thing is, the software (apparently Linux-based) isn’t even finished yet and is still undergoing major testing to iron-out bugs and inefficiencies. Wow. Can’t wait to see the end product.
I also like this type of form factor: curvy compact design with slide-out phone keypad.
Features of the Palm Pre:
My first real PDAs were Palms (Palm C, Palm M505, Palm Tungsten T), so there is a special link I share with the company. Good to see themselves teasing out the innovation and creativity still left within. Go Palm go!
Watch this space. I’ll post more Palm Pre information as it becomes available.
