It’s no secret by now that the BlackBerry Storm was released in a bad light with an operating system that was either not ready for public use or just unfortunately buggy. Complaints flooded the Internet (and I’m sure, telcos’ customer service departments) and were, at least, heard.

While I was viewing the article and attached videos, I toggled to my task manager to compare performance of Windows 7 to Vista that I’m running on my Dell XPS M1330. With 97 processes running, CPU usage was at 20% and memory usage was at 2.03GB. I was amazed to see in the video, improvements in Window 7 had the Motion LS800 Tablet running at 1-2% CPU consumption and only 390MB memory usage! Even though this was based on 50 processes running, the increased efficiency of Windows 7 is unmistakable.
Memory and CPU mismanagement have been some of the biggest gripes of the Windows platform as of late, so if these improvements make it past beta, the horizon looks bright for those of us still traveling down the PC road.

We’ve already heard a lot about Microsoft’s next generation operating system, Windows 7, especially since rumors are that it’s going to be released next year instead of 2010 which was the original plan. Some lucky beta testers and developers get first look on the user interface, and now a set of screenshots surfaced online and they look pretty authentic.

The Apple fans might not care, but I do. The Vista-hating, XP-loving PC users would be thrilled to hear that the Windows 7 operating system might be arriving sooner than the “early 2010″ date we’ve all been given. Sure, you can chalk it up to pure rumor, but there’s still a chance, no matter how small, that it could be true.

Along with news of the 3G iPhone, the new Mac OS X was also presented at the WWDC. Its name: the Snow Leopard. Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard will be out within one year and focuses more on improving the previous OS version rather than amassing a list of new features.

When I first heard about the impending discontinuation of the Windows XP, I was just a bit shocked in spite of the fact that I’ve seen it coming with the advent of Windows Vista. Unfortunately, this early on, Windows Vista is less than perfect and is considered quite resource-hungry.

Screen grabs of Windows 7 have surfaced on CrunchGear with confirmation that it’s only approximately 3 years away.
If you look at the photos you’ll see that it does have an Apple Mac feel about it, especially in shots where the navigation bar is position at the bottom of the screen.
One thing we can learn from Microsoft is : if you ever want something to look better than it possibly really is, use vivid colours!
