Gadgeteers in the U.S. who own the Nokia N96, will now have access to firmware that fixes a couple of bugs that were annoying in the previous build.
Nokia N96 Firmware Update V.12.043
The Nokia N96 v.12.043 firmware update includes:
- A new version of the Nokia Switch application (v4.0)
- Improvements in still camera image quality and clarity
- Compatibility with the new Nokia Email Service
- Improvements to Bluetooth compatibility
- System stability fixes and improved device speed
- and more
Brighthand advise that “the Nokia N96 can be updated using the on-device Nokia Software Updater software, or over-the-air (OTA) by dialing *#0000# and choosing “check for updates” from the options menu.”
Not sure if this update can be applied to the Australian version. Will keep you posted on this.

All users of the Nokia N78 phone and the recently released Nokia N96 can now download and installed the application fring on their handsets.
Yeah, this one’s just a rumor for now and we have no way of knowing if it’s even close to the truth. Apparently, according to JAMP Blog, the highly-anticipated Nokia Tube is going to be launched soon—as in next month soon.

We still have to wait a month ’til the Nokia N96 is released (on August), but a few lucky people can get their hands on a unit right now. Yes, really! The caveat: it costs US$1,200 when the retail price of the unit is expected to be just $860 (to go down over time, hopefully). But if you’re an animal lover, it might just be worth it.
