By the end of 2008, the new theoretical max speed of Telstra NextG would be 21Mbps, that’s more than just a few notches up from the current 14.4Mbps. I say theoretical due to the lack of compatible devices, of course, with the best phones able to only download with a speed of 7.2Mbps.

Earlier this month, it was announced that Telstra will be releasing
Remember when Telstra claimed its NextG network could be home to the fastest iPhone 3G in the world? I’m sure a lot of people snorted in disbelief over such a claim, yet even so, Telstra‘s not just all talk.

Famous American technology journalist, Walt Mossberg, has casually stated that the 3G iPhone should be available in the U.S. within the next 60 days during a Beet.TV Summit. This means July, so perhaps around August for Australia? Perhaps I bought my iMate Ultimate 8502 too soon?
UBS predicts that the 3G iPhone will be released by September this year to coincide with Apple’s annual major events. The selected 3G chip manufacturer is rumoured to be Germany’s Infineon.
