Many, many wrist phones have been announced, but few if any have come to market. Sure, a watch phone is always a good idea, though today it is quite hard to imagine anyone using it with so many multimedia items available on the market. But in March last year, the Aussie company SMS Technology launched the M300, a tri-band GSM/GPRS wristwatch phone, in its native land.
The phone sports a 1in color display, contains 64MB of memory and incorporates Bluetooth 2.0 connectivity, which impedes people from interfering in your private conversations. It can play all the music file formats available on the market, such as: MP3, BAAC, BWAV, BAMR, BMIDI, BIMY< and more. The user has a mini phonebook integrated in the device and the ability to receive SMS, so no answers needed. It works perfectly with only 2 batteries and it comes with an included USB cable.
Following the latest trend in the industry, the watch comes equipped with a nice built-in speaker and a microphone, which are quite useful if you think about recording your friend’s memos on it. Or who knows, maybe you’re an undercover agent involved in some police mission. It would definitely make James Bond jealous.
SMS Technology of Australia, the gadget’s developer says that it is the world’s first truly mobile GSM watch. The company claims the watch delivers up to 3.33 hours’ talk time and 80 hours in stand-by mode, 99 numbers memory storage and 40 integrated real tones.
Past attempts at shipping a wrist phone have failed, most notably Samsung’s offering, announced in May 2003 but killed off long before its planned December 2003 release. Japan’s NTT DoCoMo announced the Wristomo wrist phone about the same time as Samsung unveiled its product. Wristomo too seems to have never made to market – if it did, it didn’t stay there for long.
This M300 wrist phone is a new product in Australian Market, certainly, technology will continue to evolve and the opinion of existing users are very essential for us to choose the right gadgets.
