Finally finally finally. The time is now official. We’re about to get ALL the juicy details of the very much anticipated iPhone 5! Apple have just sent out invitations to all the major names in media about their iPhone-centric event which is set to happen next week (October 4) at the Apple Cupertino Campus. The image above was part of the invitation and some are interpreting the “one missed call” indication as symbolic of only one iPhone as opposed to the rumored two, will be announced. Based on Apple’s strategy of having upper and lower end iPhone choices for consumers, I still believe there is a chance that two models, i.e. iPhone 4S (lower-end choice) and iPhone 5 (pro choice) will be released.

My girlfriend’s boss went to New Zealand a month back. He thought he’d turned data roaming off, but actually he hadn’t. When he got home he got a bill from Telstra for over $800! That was mostly related to the constant polling and syncing that his iPhone was doing related to Exchange email (he uses Google Apps). Telstra have been nice and have offered to waive some of that, but that’s not the point. The point is, telco international data roaming charges suck!
What my girlfriend’s boss needed is an exciting new iPhone app from a smart bunch of guys in Israel called Onavo. I met up with their CEO last week at the Mobile World Congress, and in a busy networking lounge with no spare seats we pulled up some carpet and he showed me what Onavo does. And I was impressed!

Finally! The wait is over for millions of loyal Verizon customers who have been waiting for the Apple iPhone 4 to be both compatible and available on the Verizon CDMA network. Since 2007, AT&T has had exclusive rights on the iPhone in the U.S. I didn’t realise what the big issue was, until I was in Las Vegas for CES 2011 only a couple of weeks ago – to put it bluntly, the AT&T network is shocking. For most of the trade show, I was left without reception and experienced numerous black spots in the hotel I was staying in. I can now sincerely sympathize with Verizon / non-AT&T customers who want an iPhone 4 as well as a decent network to host it.

Took this photo this morning to give you a size comparison of the iPad, Samsung Galaxy Tab (currently reviewing) and the iPhone 4. Some people think that the Samsung Galaxy Tab is far too big to use on a daily basis or as a replacement for their current smartphone. As for me, the more I use it, the more I get used to and like the larger screen real estate especially for eBook reading, Twitter and Facebook!

I love my Telstra iPhone 4! From it I am able to keep an eye on my business, blog and stay in touch with all my social media networks including Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn and FourSquare wherever there is an internet connection. Without it, it would be like having a limb missing. This is why I have to my iPhone with battery charge at all times.

I’ve been thinking of buying a NAS (Network Attached Storage / Server) device over the last couple of months, but considerations of the time it would take to setup and organize my files has stopped me going any further. The whole idea of storing all my data in one location and being able to share it with multiple devices was the main benefit driver behind the idea.
