The iPad is a beautiful gadget. It deserves to be sitting upright on your desk for you and all those passing by to admire.

If you’ve seen the original Apple iPad Dock you may have questioned why they chose to design it so poorly – the width of the dock is only approximately 1/3 of the iPad. Even Apple’s own website is rife with complaints by unhappy iPad customers. You can just imagine how easily this can be knocked over. Even though there are reports on the web indicating that the iPad screen is resistant to day-to-day scratches, I would still recommend using a screen protector. Not only will it protect from scratches but will give give the iPad increased chances of surviving possible accidental drops.

When I initially got wind of the iPad and its specifications, I was cynical of its real-life application and just thought it was a glorified iPod Touch. However the more I see it in action and consider the apps that could be developed for it, the more I want one! Ok I’ll be honest, I really just want to try playing StreetFighter IV on it…

Ed Dale Forgot To Buy Me An iPad

On a humorous note, my friend @Ed_dale just travelled a few thousand kilometers to be one of the first Australians to get an iPad. Follow him on Twitter and you’ll see how this gadget-toting webpreneur is making me sad that I don’t have one yet.

Yup, you heard right – Apple has just unleashed its latest version of iTunes (Version 9.1) which includes, amongst other lesser things, support for the iPad! For those fortunate enough to have secured an iPad from the first batch this Saturday, we rejoice with you and the availability of this important sync functionality. For those of us, who forgot or just plain right didn’t have the funds to acquire an iPad yet, condolences…

It appears that the demand for the Apple iPad has exceeded initial worldwide supplies. According to Mashable the shipping dates of the first batch of iPads has been pushed out and option to pick up instore removed. There is also speculation that over 500K have already been ordered. Incredible.

At this rate, the iPad may just be 2010′s most sought after gadget…

Our friends at I4U spotted that Apple has revealed their official case for the iPad on their website. Given its reasonably pricey tag and huge fragile screen, I’m pretty sure that one of the first things that Apple iPad owners will be doing will be trying to get a good protective case for it. The official Apple iPad case is light and features access to all the iPad ports such as power and headphone jack. One of the best features is that the case folds in such as way that you can sit it horizontally to view your photos – voila your iPad becomes a picture frame!

Features of the iPad Case:

• Soft microfiber interior
• Reinforced panels for structure
• Lightweight enough to carry anywhere
• Folds horizontally or vertically to hold iPad at an angle for viewing video or typing on the onscreen keyboard
