Here’s what he thinks after the first day with the HTC Touch Diamond 2:

Firstly if I had to pick a few words which has to describe the D2 I’d say ‘sleek / sparse / stylish’ would cover things. It’s a well featured device mainly black in colour with a silver fascia and side edge trim, with minimal buttons and other protrusions.

So far he’s given it a 88% score – very promising!

My oh my. Mobile World Congress is always full of juicy announcements and HTC didn’t let us down this year, with press releases on their new flagships the HTC Touch Diamond2 and the HTC Touch Pro2.

This post will specifically address the HTC Touch Diamond2 as I want to give credit to all the hard work HTC has done with this model alone.

What’s new about the HTC Diamond2?
Not only did HTC take feedback about the flaws of the previous version of the Diamond but they actually did something about it. The biggest problem with the old was battery life. A 900mAh battery meant that there was just enough juice to get you by on a busy day. With the HTC Touch Diamond2′s 1100mAh battery, they were able to get another 50% of standby time when used in WCDMA.

Besides new hardware improvements to the upcoming HTC Touch Diamond2 and HTC Touch Pro2 there are also some useful changes to its TouchFLO 3D interface:

What’s new? TouchFLO 3D adds a few new areas – Facebook functionality, a deeper contacts integration, a new calendar tab, and Push Internet. Also, TouchFLO 3D now (finally!) works in landscape. We get a new keyboard with an improved design, plus sound and haptic feedback. In addition, there are finger-friendly menus throughout the operating system, just like in Windows Mobile 6.5. See the full list of changes here. Overall, HTC continues to innovate on their hardware, and are finding more and more ways to keep the user from going into the drab native WinMo interface.
