While most people this year seem to focus on the high-profile phones such as the iPhone 3G, the HTC Touch Diamond, and even the yet-to-be-released Sony Ericsson XPERIA X1, there are strong contenders in the market for those who don’t care a bit about fads. CNET, at least, seems to think so: a recent review of the Nokia E71 proclaimed it as one of this year’s best smartphones.

Last June 16, Nokia’s smartphone, the Nokia E71 was officially released alongside the Nokia E66. Prior to that though, the people at Mobile-Review got their hands on a unit for a bit of a pre-release review. In a nutshell, the Nokia E71 is sort of an overhauled E61.
