It’s funny how we’re giving away a brand new iPad 2 on our website yet I don’t have one myself to review. Last night I sought to fix this by venturing into a place called Mong Kok in Hong Kong to buy one. For those who are aware of the iPad 2′s official release dates, you would know that Hong Kong is not listed as one of the first countries to get them this Friday. Those on sale in Mong Kok are therefore sold at a premium with markups of up to $300-$400 on the higher spec’d model!

At 7:30am this smoggy drizzly morning in Hong Kong, I attempted to watch Apple’s Keynote on the iPad 2 as I walked towards my first coffee meeting. Seconds into the presentation, I noticed that it was an hour long. It was good to see Steve Jobs up and about sharing Apple’s recent success but in my head I was yelling “Give me the juicy bits!” Scrolling forward, I got what I was after – the iPad 2 specifications. As the iPad 2 banner states above, in summary the iPad 2 is thinner, lighter and faster!
