Looks like HTC’s grip on exclusivity of Google Android devices is no more with this video showcasing the upcoming Samsung i7500.  The screen looks larger than the HTC Dream and HTC Magic which is a plus when using multimedia applications. Some of the other features I like that were exhibited in the video were the 5 Megapixel LED flash camera and responsiveness.

Still not enough to sway me to the Google Android party but looks like a decent phone.

Is it just me or is the image of Motorola’s first Google Android phone, the Motorola Calgary, too futuristic to be considered an actual photo? If it is indeed the Motorola Calgary, it will make the iPhone look prehistoric. Not that looks are everything of course.

News and information is still sketchy but it looks like it will be available as soon as Q2 next year.

I’m already not liking the counter-intuitive placement of menu buttons which will result in covering parts the screen while selecting options. Moto, if you’re going to copy the iPhone UI at least do it properly!?

The HTC Magic, which is the second phone to run on the Google Android OS, has made its first TV appearance via an SFR commercial in France.  We wrote the HTC Magic’s launch a couple of weeks ago.

Major differences between this and the T-Mobile G1/ HTC Dream?

The HTC Magic seems to be a more compact phone. With the absense of a QWERTY keyboard it’s lighter. It also has double the memory (ROM) on board and beefier battery.

Main differences between the G1 & HTC Magic?

Unlike the G1, the Magic doesn’t feature a keyboard, instead relying on a very responsive touchscreen. It’s a lot smaller than the G1 and feels really good in the hand. It also looks much better, in our opinion. The curved edges and shiny finish give it an elegant appearance and feel, and we can’t wait to get hold of one for longer time back in the UK.

I wonder how much it cost for T-Mobile to launch the HTC Dream as T-Mobile G1? Seems like Vodafone wasn’t willing to pay that price to call it Vodafone G2…

Following from our post yesterday on the HTC Magic, here’s a video by MobileBurn that gives us a view of how the HTC Magic copes with video recording and the general size of the G2 phone. Particularly impressed by the latter – slimmer design than the G1 is sure to attract more, particularly ladies.

Take note that it’s running pre-production firmware which means that it’s still open to change before it officially hits the shelves.

HTC haven’t pulled a rabbit out of the hat, but they did pull out something white : the new HTC Magic. Their second Android phone will be Vodafone’s first which will be available to selected international customers in the next couple of weeks.
