Last August, BigPond Australia started its Music Service that offered something some others cannot – DRM-free music. That means whatever you buy through the BigPond service can be transferred onto various media players without problems.

I’m sure if I ask everyone visiting Mr. Gadget if they do financial transactions online, I’ll get an overwhelming “yes” as an answer. I use PayPal to pay and receive payments both, and I got to be honest and tell you that all those horror stories about being hacked fray my nerves.

Here’s another one for social networking junkies: version 1.5 of the FaceBook app for BlackBerry smartphones is slated for release on January 2009. The new version will apparently be a more robust FaceBook application for the smartphone compared to the previous iteration.

I was never one for MySpace, but I know enough social networking addicts to say that a lot of people would be thrilled that the MySpace app for BlackBerry smartphones is now officially available. Its release was long-awaited, but now MySpace addicts are given a way to down in their obsession even while on the go.

Google’s expanding Gmail’s features by adding a bit of VoIP functionality to it. Whereas heretofore, you can only use Gchat to, well, chat; in the coming weeks, you’ll be able to use it just like how you can use Skype, for example.

Telstra subsidiary Sensis just got hitched with Google. First, Sensis kills off its search engine completely and would, from now on, integrate Google’s search engine for the web site. Thankfully, there will be no layoffs as a result from the integration, but it would slash costs on Sensis’ part.

BlackBerry users can now get a deal on cheap international phone calls with Truphone. Truphone recently launched its Truphone Anywhere service for BlackBerry handsets that lets users call anyone across the pond on the cheap.
