In case you didn’t know, this year (August) I started my own leather case brand called Aranez. I did this because I wanted to design my own leather cases to exercise my creative muscle as well as use, what I consider is, the best leather for smartphones and tablets: kangaroo leather. It was only this time last year that LG announced the world’s first dual-core phone and now there are rumours that HTC are the first to develop a quad-core device, dubbed the HTC Edge. Crikey. At this rate, by this time next year we’ll have a oct-core gadget!

As we forecasted earlier in the year, the Samsung Galaxy S II is a winner and the latest sales figures released by Samsung support this – 3 million Samsung Galaxy S II handsets sold in only 55 days! According to PCMag.com, it is 30 days ahead of it’s predecessor, the Galaxy S, which took around 90 days to achieve this!

Remember how I told you that the Samsung Galaxy S II could quite possibly be 2011′s best Android smartphone? Well if you’re in Australia, as of next month, you’ll be able to test out this theory for yourself! Samsung Australia have just formally announced that the super slim and dual-core wielding Samsung Galaxy S II will be available via all major Australian carriers from the month of June.

I’m sorry I couldn’t attend the Samsung launch event in person, but I was there jumping up and down in spirit.

The image above is taken from Samsung’s first commercial video for the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S II smartphone. We’ve posted the clip below so you can see how the little girl mistakes the little clown fish swimming on her (or sadly her parent’s) Samsung Galaxy S II as a real fishy. Concerned for its welfare, she tenderly plonks the phone in the goldfish bowl so it can ‘be happy’ again. The point of the video, of course, is to emphasize the vivid and clear display of the Samsung Galaxy S II‘s Super AMOLED Plus display. We know a lot of you out there who are keen to own this device are a lot smarter, but just in case you haven’t noticed yet, there is a disclaimer on the video saying that the Samsung Galaxy S II is in fact, NOT waterproof.
