Spiderman is my favourite super-hero of all time and had me trying to scale walls and study spiders more than I should have as a youngster. I also admired Spidey’s sense of humour and quest to do good with the powers that were given to him. It’s so unfortunate that he was not part of the Avengers, particularly with, what looks to be an awesome action-packed movie coming up in 2012. Although it doesn’t feature my favourite friendly neighbourhood web-slinger, it does showcase some of Marvel’s other kick-ass heroes: IronMan, Captain America,Thor and the Hulk!
If you’re looking for a good movie to watch with the family on a Friday night, I recommend that you head down to a participating Video Ezy and pick up The Green Hornet. Ample supply of popcorn and choc tops will make the whole experience better!
I watched The Green Hornet, and I must say that I was surprised by the lack of green energy beams coming from a green ring. Obviously it was because I had The Green Hornet confused with DC Comic’s “Green Lantern” which will be released in the next couple of weeks. Despite the mix up, I thoroughly enjoyed the film and was especially proud of Jay Chou (famous Chinese singer) for playing his role (Kato the sidekick) so well.
The Green Hornet In A Nutshell – No Spoilers
The story is about Britt Reid (Seth Rogan) a rich irresponsible playboy seeking his calling in life. One day while traveling home with his dad’s mechanic, they find themselves foiling a robbery on the street. From that point on, Britt, wide-eyed and still overwhelmed by their singular heroic act, decides to commit to a life of crime fighting. Of course, it’s a decision that he puts little thought into and doesn’t initially recognise the responsibility associated with such a noble choice. After sampling a few costumes, he decides on a black and green theme and dubs himself “The Green Hornet”. To be honest, I liked Kato more because of his gadgets and his car “The Black Beauty” is definitely a vehicle I would like to personally own!
I won’t say too much about the film in case you haven’t seen it yet, but rest assured, there’s some great martial arts intermingled with goofy moments by our hero.
All in all I’d give it a 8/10.
Die-hard Green Hornet fans will know that this hero has been around for quite a while – in fact starting in the 1930s as a radio show. You can read more about The Green Hornet’s rich history on Wikipedia.

The Green Hornet Blu-Ray Disc (a Blu Ray 3D will be available soon too) has so many features that you wouldn’t be able to experience at the cinemas.
Having worked in Asia for a couple of months last year has rekindled my fondness for martial artsmovies. At the tail end of last year, I also had the opportunity to visit Beijing which only further increased my appreciation of Chinese culture. I guess this is why the newest movie by director, Benny Chan, “Shaolin” struck a chord with me. It took me back to the ancient places like the Forbidden City that I checked out in Beijing and helped me imagine what living conditions were like in that historical context.
With characters such as Spiderman, Ironman and the Hulk, I grew up to love Marvel. Another one of my favo4rite Marvel comic / cartoon characters I loved as a youngster was Thor.
Disney Australia contacted me via email today to offer me two tickets to see TRON Legacy at IMAX! I’m a huge fan of sci-fi but sadly I’ve yet to see the original TRON movie. That will be high on my to-do list as I want to get the context on what this new version is based on. Excited! Permalink to this gadget topic
Last week, I had the pleasure of being invited to attend the opening of the Tim Burton Exhibition at ACMI, Federation Square. I was excited to see first-hand 30 years worth of art work from the Academy Award- and Golden Globe-nominated film director. The exhibition will be in Melbourne till October 10th, 2010.
Note: I’d like to thank my friend KL for helping out with some of the photos! You rawk
What better way to unwind on the weekend than to watch a good kungfu movie. One that I have been itching to watch ever since it was released late last month is Ip Man 2. The movie is based on Bruce Lee’s teacher who was a grandmaster of Wing Chun martial arts.
It has received excellent reviews on movie review / information sites like IMDB and looks to be one of 2010′s best martial arts films.
If the Youtube snippet below is any indication of the quality of fight scenes in the film, then I have a feeling I’m going to really enjoy it. I loved how he utilises a humble feather duster to make his opponent look like a complete noob! (Zoom to 2:55).
And this was my favorite part of the Iron Man 2 movie! Let me clarify – I like this scene because of the way this ordinary-looking briefcase transforms into one of the coolest superhero suits in the world not because of Ivan giving Iron Man a beating
Disclaimer: DON’T READ ANY MORE IF YOU HAVEN’T SEEN THE MOVIE
I absolutely loved the first Iron Man movie so expectations were set high for the next iteration which was released last Thursday (29th April) in Australia. The start of the movie seemed to promise an action packed ride all the way to the finish with baddie Ivan Vanko busily preparing his own bad-ass metallic creation. Because his father was co-inventor of the arc creator, he had access to the initial blueprints of Iron Man’s power source.
