It was only this time last year that LG announced the world’s first dual-core phone and now there are rumours that HTC are the first to develop a quad-core device, dubbed the HTC Edge. Crikey. At this rate, by this time next year we’ll have a oct-core gadget!

The new investment and partnership of HTC into one of the hippest audio companies on the planet, Beats Electronics, should mean abundant bass and coolness coming from upcoming HTC devices. I always admire innovative partnerships. This is one to look out for. Well done HTC!

Just last week, HTC launched the HTC HD7 in Australia via Telstra.  The main feature of this smartphone is the high resolution 4.3″ screen that is complimented by a kickstand on the back of the device. Perfect for viewing videos or slideshows handsfree. It adds to the growing number of devices running on Windows Phone 7 OS. Personally, I’m not a huge fan of the OS but I’m sure it will improve over time.

I’m sorry if I offended Microsoft fanboys out there but ever since my negative experiences with Windows in past years and the many hours I’ve wasted trying to make websites compatible with IE6, I have referred to Microsoft as the “Darkside”. Don’t worry too much though, like Darth Vader, the Darkside has its cool sides like red light sabers – in Microsoft’s case I’m still a huge fan of their PC peripherals especially their natural ergonomic keyboards

Remember how Microsoft has pretty much disappeared from the mobile OS scene over the last couple of years? Well they’re back and striking back with a vengeance!
