A few hours ago, Apple revealed its latest addition to the iPad family, the iPad Mini. With the growth of tablet consumption (sounds medical) and its stranglehold on this market, it makes sense that Apple give consumers another option – I believe that the iPad Mini is aimed particularly at the eBook market.

I’m still a little bleary-eyed from staying up late to watch @engadget‘s live blogging on the Apple iPhone 5 launch. Was it worth it? Yes! I got the two main items on my wishlist ticked off : better camera (f2.4 sapphire crystal lens) and larger display (4 inch). Getting ultra-fast wireless (LTE), faster processor (A6), thinner and lighter design (7.6mm) are all a bonus. Oh and the black version with the dark edging looks sublime!

It’s that time of the year again when the web is awash with rumours and tidbits of the world’s most sought after device – the iPhone. I know many Android owners may have choked at the last few words of the previous sentence, but it’s foolhardy to believe that there is another device that causes such a frenzy whenever even just a hint of a new version is on the way. Maybe one day in the future this won’t be the iPhone, but not yet.

I’m quite confident that I’m not the only one who’s been wanting to make the move to the MacBook Air but have waited for the right time to do so. The latest announcements by Apple which unveil news of upgrades to graphics and CPU on the MacBook Air, means the time to buy is NOW. I hope all the people who have been hounding me over the last couple of months for a buy decision are reading this!

With all the cool Androids that have been released over the last couple of months, I must admit, it does finally feel like the rest of the world is catching up to Apple. The latest Android devices from HTC (HTC One X) and Samsung (Samsung Galaxy S 3) especially, are finally looking like what the fabled “iPhone killer” should look like. Quad-core processor, more polished version of Android OS and decent cameras are features that will arguably bring them up to par with the iPhone 4S (I can feel Android-hate seething at this point). But what about the iPhone 5 (or whatever it’ll be called)? What features should Apple incorporate to keep current iPhone owners happy and to sway recent Android converts back?

Apple have just release another update to iOS. This is version 5.1.1. So convenient being able to update via mobile data these days without having to plug in.

The most important feature of this update is improved reliability of HDR photo capture when in screen lock mode. Will definitely be testing this out today.

I was surprised to see that there were over 2,000 people following me on @instagram on the weekend (my username is @mr_gadget). This is one of my favourite iPhone apps because it forces me to use my creative muscle everytime I use it. Creativity is so underrated these days. I try not to just post every thing I’m about to devour but rather focus on sharing bits of my life that I think are interesting or inspiring.
