Look above to see what just popped into my mailbox from Hong Kong’s premium telecommunications provider, CSL 1010! The HTC Velocity 4G will be Hong Kong’s first 4G LTE phone. Australia’s Telstra, is also using the HTC Velocity 4G to herald the launch of their 4G LTE mobile phone network. From face value, the HTC Velocity 4G looks like an updated version of the HTC HD2!

One of the best features about the new Samsung Galaxy Nexus is its huge 4.65″ Super AMOLED display. As I mentioned in my Samsung Galaxy Nexus review a few days ago, with the brighter screen and increased visibility in direct sunlight,it is a sight to behold. As always, the logical thought that always enters my mind after acquiring a new smartphone like this is “I need to protect the screen!”. A few days ago, I posted my quick review on the Samsung Galaxy Nexus. In short, it’s a superb phone (in my opinion 2011′s best) however one of its major downsides is its battery life. Thankfully there has been an improvement in battery time when compared with the Samsung Galaxy S 2 out of the box, yet when using it with my normal operational style, I found the battery only lasted till around 1pm (fully charged at 7am). This is totally unacceptable in this day and age of what are supposed to be power-efficient dual core processors and higher capacity lithium ion batteries!

Before I start talking about my Samsung Galaxy Nexus, I hope you all had a Merry Christmas and recovering well from what should have been a time of feasting and celebration. I for one, am deliberately cutting back on all things tasty, at least for the next couple of weeks! Now back to the topic at hand, the Samsung Galaxy Nexus. As most of you have seen in my tweets, I have already rated it as the best Android that I have played with in 2011. Coupled with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich aka known as ICS on the web, it sets a blistering pace for all other Androids to follow.

In case you didn’t know, this year (August) I started my own leather case brand called Aranez. Over the last few weeks, we’ve introduced two superb Android phones to you that I would consider giving up my iPhone for: Samsung Galaxy Nexus and the Motorola RAZR. Here’s another top recently announced Android that I would recommend if you are Android-inclined: the HTC Rezound. Our friends at BGR also support us in saying that it makes the cut for being one of the best Android phones out there on the market.

The last few weeks just may have been this year’s most significant when it comes to smartphone announcements. Earlier this month, after much anticipation, Apple fans were finally handed news of the next generation iPhone which turned out to be a smaller change than what all expected but should have known – the iPhone 4S is basically the iPhone 4 running iOS 5, Siri and slight boosts in hardware. In the Android world, two flagship smartphones were announced which had Android lovers waiting with bated breath; these of course were the Samsung Galaxy Nexus and the child of the newish Google and Motorola marriage, the Motorola RAZR.
