They’ve certainly come along way from their first Android device, the LG GW620, which I owned and reviewed way back in 2009! Interesting to see the evolution especially how LG decided to go with a physical keyboard and 3 inch screen to a huge keyboardless 4.7 inch display device.
Main features of the LG Optimus G:
- 1.5GHz Snapdragon processor
- 4.7 inch 1280 x 768 pixel high definition display
- 2GB of RAM
- 13 megapixel camera
- 2100 mAh battery
On paper, it looks like the LG Optimus G trumps both the iPhone 5 and Samsung Galaxy S3 in the areas of RAM (2GB) and camera (13 megapixel). How that translates to performance and better quality photos is yet to be seen.
Defining an LG Style
What LG need to do now is work on the styling of their flagship devices. Both the iPhone 5 and Galaxy S3 have distinguishable styling, whereas the Optimus G seems very plain. Differentation by style will become an increasing important factor going forward.
Availability
Apparently the LG Optimus G will be on sale in selected countries from November onwards. By this time, I believe their hopes will lie on capturing the hearts of people who weren’t that impressed with the iPhone 5 and want a beefier Android device than the Galaxy S3.
