This is a good day for professional / hardcore digital photographers especially those who are taking advantage of HD video capabilities of their digital SLRs – today Lexar announced an industry-first 256GB Compact Flash card. The new Lexar 256GB compact flash card provides enormous storage capacities and impressive performance for capturing more high-definition video content. The card comes with a minimum guaranteed transfer speed of 60MB a second (400x) and includes the latest version of award-winning Image Rescue software.
In terms of availability, this little data monster won’t be on shelves till around the first half of this year. Given that the 128GB’s RRP is US$537, if you want this card I highly start that you start saving now! The price wasn’t given but I’m predicting it will be at least US $700. Ouch. Although, I do remember selling a stack load of Sandisk 1GB Secure Digital cards for $695 in 2004…
