I know that this is a tech blog, but what you have to remember is that the person behind this also needs inspiration to blog since blogging really isn’t as glamorous as a lot think it to be! There are more days than I care to remember where I’ve lacked inspiration to write, even about a topic I’m so passionate about. I draw my motivation and inspiration from a few main sources, one of course being my family, but now and again there will be someone inspirational who pops up in the news or my Twitter stream that perks up my determination to keep going. This weekend it’s been one young American-Asian : Jeremy Lin!
of Friday, had I ever heard of him but I’ve been following his latest four NBA games and wow oh wow – what a champion! I know that I am not the only one in this situation. This once unknown rookie from Harvard is making a huge name for himself in the biggest basketball game in world. Because of injury and absence of two superstars on his team (New York Knicks) Jeremy was given the chance to prove his worth and he has! And so much more.
There are a lot of things I like about Jeremy Lin but here are the main ones:
- When given the opportunity to get off the bench, he played his heart out
- He is so humble : even during the last couple of days when the spotlight was on him, I heard him say “…more focus needs to be on my team mates, and less on me”
- He mentions God despite being ridiculed in this godless world
- He’s a Harvard grad with an above average GPA of 3.1
- He’s a team player
- The main reason why I am watching NBA again
- He’s Asian 😉
He could have quit basketball when the Golden State Warriors let him go and get little game time at New York. With his Harvard credentials he could have scored a decent stable paying job at large US corporate I’m sure, but he chose to stick it out with his dream and wait for his chance to come. And it has!
Wishing Jeremy all the best as he continues to get game time at the Knicks and be an example to many people all around the world. Thanks for the inspiration this weekend!
