If you’re looking for a good movie to watch with the family on a Friday night, I recommend that you head down to a participating Video Ezy and pick up The Green Hornet. Ample supply of popcorn and choc tops will make the whole experience better!
I watched The Green Hornet, and I must say that I was surprised by the lack of green energy beams coming from a green ring. Obviously it was because I had The Green Hornet confused with DC Comic’s “Green Lantern” which will be released in the next couple of weeks. Despite the mix up, I thoroughly enjoyed the film and was especially proud of Jay Chou (famous Chinese singer) for playing his role (Kato the sidekick) so well.
The Green Hornet In A Nutshell – No Spoilers
The story is about Britt Reid (Seth Rogan) a rich irresponsible playboy seeking his calling in life. One day while traveling home with his dad’s mechanic, they find themselves foiling a robbery on the street. From that point on, Britt, wide-eyed and still overwhelmed by their singular heroic act, decides to commit to a life of crime fighting. Of course, it’s a decision that he puts little thought into and doesn’t initially recognise the responsibility associated with such a noble choice. After sampling a few costumes, he decides on a black and green theme and dubs himself “The Green Hornet”. To be honest, I liked Kato more because of his gadgets and his car “The Black Beauty” is definitely a vehicle I would like to personally own!
I won’t say too much about the film in case you haven’t seen it yet, but rest assured, there’s some great martial arts intermingled with goofy moments by our hero.
All in all I’d give it a 8/10.
Die-hard Green Hornet fans will know that this hero has been around for quite a while – in fact starting in the 1930s as a radio show. You can read more about The Green Hornet’s rich history on Wikipedia.
