I kid you not, one of the main reasons why I am still stuck on the iPhone 4 is… Instagram. For those who are not acquainted with this brilliant iPhone App, “Instagram is a fun & quirky way to share your life with friends through a series of pictures. Snap a photo, then choose a filter to transform the look and feel of the shot into a memory to keep around forever.”
As an IT professional and entrepreneur, there are not many means during the day to express myself creatively. For the last couple of years, I’ve taken up photography to encourage myself to continue to exercise the ever so important and often neglected creative muscle. With Instagram, I’m able to get my creative kick without pulling out my Canon 5DM2 and worrying about which lens to use. The combination of the iPhone 4 camera (still the best one I’ve tested), Instagram filters of course mostly unsuspecting random subjects make for some interesting snippets to share.
At the time of writing this, there is still no official Instagram application for Android. It’s a shame because many of my photographer friends have Android devices and Instagram is a quick fun app for sharing and embellishing photos. Both my wife and I are addicts!
So if you have an iPhone, join in the fun and download Instagram from the AppStore. If you want to follow me there too, my username is “mr_gadget“.
Here are some photos that I’ve handpicked from my stream:
