I purchased a Samsung Galaxy S through Optus 3 weeks ago. The phone is overrated. I've written about my experience with the phone on my blog at http://sfellowes.spaces.live.com/blog/cns!66B895384B2CC7AF!816.entry

@lipka Thanks so much for your feedback regarding the Samsung Galaxy S. Yeah I heard that Froyo is not too far away :) You may want to consider getting a decent case for your device if you're experiencing that kind of heat. Are you using it that much?!

I have the Samsung Galaxy S (used for over a week now). It is better than iPhone 3G & 3GS, Nokia N97, and Blackberry 9700 (my 2nd favourite phone). I know because I have owned/own all these phones.

One word of caution, the phone can get a bit hot!

Some things lacking however (due to the phone's OS being Android 2.1) is it currently doesn't support:
1) Bluetooth headset calling, and
2) Certain languages not supported (e.g. Thai), which means the Thai characters appear as squares on websites. Ironic given that it is a smart phone with heavy emphasis on the Internet and socialising.

However, Samsung has planned to provide OS update to Android 2.2 in near future (within 3 months??) which is supposed to address these deficiencies.

Haha. My friend just got his HTC Legend last week. Despite smaller screen (compared to HTC Desire / iPhone), its anodised metal casing and design make up for it! :P

@Palah haha. What about X10 Mini or X10 Mini Pro?
@Michael Just because you have their products doesn't necessarily mean you're a fanboy. I know that you're just a lover of good tech!

All that, thanks to my iPad that makes me somewhat an Apple fanboy grr

wonder if they copied the iP 4 design 'reception' flaw as well :) ... wife is still looking for a phone and tried an x10 at telstra yesterday...its the only phone she typed on without error but felt cheap in hand for a $1k phone... but in reading reviews the Samsung Galaxy may be worth a look... typical... Optus get first then need to wait for the big T to load with advertising (which can take ages) ...
