Google Android 2.2 “Froyo” Announced

Google has just announced the sweet delicious details of it’s latest version of its mobile operating system, Android 2.2 codenamed “Froyo”.

I’m most excited to hear that this update will make my HTC Desire even faster than it currently is!

Summary of and Improvements:

  • Faster performance : Up to five times faster
  • Full Adobe Air and Adobe Flash support
  • Mobile hotspot support
  • Ability to install Apps onto MicroSD card
  • Auto-update and Update All functionality
  • App backup
  • Cloud-to-device messaging

Arnold.. how fast is your HTC Desire compared to your iphone… and any WM6.5 devices you may of encounted lately… as up 5 times faster (being compared to what?)is a big claim and if true should put it ahead of pack

Palah it’s very fast. I’d say faster than the iPhone in many areas. If Android 2.2 lives up to its promises, expect one of the best platforms we’ve seen to date :)

Palah X10 is also a superb Android phone. It’s a pity it’s running Android 1.6. Review coming soon.

In regards to Telstra Android apps, yes, terrible.

will the current HTC desire (ANDROID 2.1) be upgradable to the fro yo (android 2.2)? or will (and when) HTC be releasing the Desire already loaded with android 2.2
