I saw this today and it is an awesome movie! 5 stars and a must see, great read man, thanks!
Pffft should have stayed a comic novel. I was weary after this one!
have to agree with meinrosebud… would of been very disapointed if had paid … ooooh… we did
… it just never got there…and like the energiser bunny kepts going and going
would of been disapointed if had paid… oooh we did
… even though it keeps going and going and going and going… found it never really got there
Yeah it was a pretty bad movie – so many unnecessary bits and flaws e.g. How could John (blue guy) claim to be like God and greater than any man when Adrian was able to block his perception of the future? Also why did blue guy where underwear for photoshoot but was naked throughout the rest of the movie?
There’s a lot in the story, and although I think they did a pretty damn good job of being faithful to the source, I can see how it might have been a bit ‘meh’ for people unfamiliar with the comic.
Personally, I loved it. I think it’s a movie that you could watch a dozen times and keep getting more out of it.
PS – John actually says that he’s not God, because he can only see his *own* past/future. And his lack of pants is (as in the comic) a sign of his gradual disconnection from humanity. The photoshoot (and vietnam) are early on, whereas most of the movie was set some 20 years after that.
My main criticisms (and they’re minor) are:
* I didn’t have any connection with the people on the street that died, so the mass-killings didn’t affect me emotionally (unlike the comic). Hoping the extended director’s cut fixes that
* The very end was paced weirdly. Although it followed the comic, it didn’t work so well on screen. Should have skipped from John leaving to the newspaper scene
* I like giant squiddy things (but understand why they went in the direction they did)
I kept thinking that the guy who played the Comedian was Javier Bardem (I found out later that it’s actually Jeffrey Dean Morgan), but the two actors definitely look alike
