For the last 2 years, I’ve been using the Belkin Flip KVM to enable me to use one set of keyboard and mouse to control two computers. It was very quick to setup and the only piece of maintenance work required was changing the battery every couple of months.
A colleague of mine recently shared that I could accomplish the same feat without any KVM hardware by using Soundforge’s Synergy.
Sure enough, after downloading Synergy on both my laptops, I witnessed the magic of technology as my mouse cursor traversed between my laptop screens.
Features of Soundforge Synergy:
Redirecting the mouse and keyboard is as simple as moving the mouse off the edge of your screen. Synergy also merges the clipboards of all the systems into one, allowing cut-and-paste between systems. Furthermore, it synchronizes screen savers so they all start and stop together and, if screen locking is enabled, only one screen requires a password to unlock them all. Learn more about how it works.
Synergy is open source and released under the GNU Public License (GPL).
