Uniden_Bluetooth_Handsfree_BTSC1500The good folk at Uniden were generous enough to give me their new Uniden BTSC1500 Bluetooth Speakerphone to review this week and I must say that the overall experience was quite impressive.

Simple Setup

Setup was very easy with the Uniden BTSC1500 – just switched it on and it entered pair mode. Hooking it up with my iPhone was a breeze; just went through the Bluetooth setup (0000) and was able to make calls in a matter of seconds.

Very Clear Sound

I think my family is sick of me asking “How do I sound?” every time I get a new bluetooth gadget to test. In this case, the reply I got was positive. The Uniden BTSC1500 Bluetooth Handsfree provides good quality audio without any apparent echo or noticeable distortion. It also had a powerful enough speaker to provide clear conversation even in noisy conditions like when my window was down.

Handy Display

Having call details appear on the Uniden BTSC1500 comes in useful when you’re driving and don’t have the ability to check out who’s calling you on your phone. It also shows telephone signal strength, battery, mute and bluetooth status.

Superior Bluetooth Device

In summary, the Uniden BTSC1500 is once of the most fully-featured bluetooth car kits on the market. Other cool stuff on the device were calling number voice announcements, dual microphones  and voice activation. Highly recommended.

This would make driving SO much easier for me…oh wait, I don’t know how to drive. That’s right! Okay, I’m not a driver but the rest of my family do drive…and on a regular basis. This means they often get calls and have to talk to people in the car. My mom is the one who talks the most b/c people call her after work or when she’s out doing errands and she has to answer most of the time…but her driving? Well, it’s not bad, but put that with a phone and it’s not dangerous per se but let me just tell you…I’ve gotten to know a few curbs in my life. It would definitely help her out a ton and save me from screaming “what are you doing???” in the car as we drive along. :)

Can’t get my wife to use a BT headset…was going to trade her in for one that does, but the BTSC1500 may be cheaper option…:)

When I get my Uniden I can stop the first car that is weaving down the road driving one-handed while trying to talk without a bluetooth and give them my old Motorola – no way I’m giving up my Uniden.

When I am in the car I usually get/make at least one call, the best technology I have is a speaker on my mobile. I sit it on my dash and as I drive it slides from one side to the other, on occasions straight onto the floor. It is distracting and dangerous but I can not wear a headset – they hurt my big ears! This would mean I could totally concentrate on the road and not catching my mobile as it slides back to me!

Driving in the car is not the most exciting exercise. Usually this event sees me randomly calling family and others to ensure that I spend the time in the car being productive and not getting angry at the traffic.

My current phone is an Iphone 3GS. Whilst driving, I use the internal speaker which does the job, but not safely. I find myself shouting into the phone, and bringing the phone closer to my ear to hear.

Having the uniden BTSC1500 would likely increase the safety and effectiveness of using the phone whilst on the road!

A great feature would be if it allows pairing wit more than one phone, first in best dressed is fine. The review didn’t say???

My wife’s car only allows one phone to pair so when I drive it I don’t have hands free and don’t answer the phone. The old Blueant in my car however works well for her…. just my problem…. can’t be important!

The drive would be much more pleasent not having to listen to the chirps from the cheap unit I currently use, as the bluetooth connection drops in and out constantly.

Having issues with the BTSC1500 on the iphone4. It pairs OK and makes outbound calls fine, but inbound calls is silence, cannot hear caller and caller cannot hear me.

The phone is definitely connected as putting the call on hold gives the otherwise silent caller the hold beeps/rings.
