TouchLauncher: Palm OS 5 App Review

TouchLauncher is a new launcher application for Palm OS 5. It possesses a beautiful user interface and it combines basic launcher features with innovative ideas. TouchLauncher will help you to run applications on your device with your fingers. At the same time it also performs other basic tasks with them.The author of the application, Ryhor Burakou, stressed on the fact that TouchLauncher is not a device emulator of iPhone or any other such devices. It is also not affiliated with Apple or any other company and it does not mimic any interface or functions. Initial Setup Setting up TouchLauncher is very easy. Just download the installation file from the TreoCentral Store and install it on your system. After installation, you can easily customize the TouchLauncher application from top to bottom. Using TouchLauncher is very much easy as touching your device’s screen. You can launch an application from within TouchLauncher, application icons can be rearranged, application and associated icon can be deleted, pages can be swapped, and application can be renamed. These are some functions available with TouchLauncher.

Difference between TouchLauncher and other Launching applications Many of above mentioned features are also available with many other launchers, but TouchLauncher can be considered as the next level of these launchers. The additional customization features present in TouchLauncher includes usage of larger font for icon text, customization your background/wallpaper, custom icons usage, renaming icons to your choice etc.

TouchLauncher Features

1. Can change the pages of applications using TouchLauncher with your fingertips. You can tap an empty space on a page and drag it right or left switch to the next page.

2. TL supports both ICONSETS and WALLPAPERS. Iconsets can be created in the desktop and can be used in TouchLauncher and the wallpapers can be directly set in the program

3. You can get the number of SMS and Email messages which are not read with TL. A red box will display the unread messages details.

4. Drag-and-Drop function can be used to take an application icon and put it anywhere you like .

5. You can Press Home or Space on your Treo for quickly changing the current category. Press Menu-Y for editing application categories.

6. TL allows you to give each application a unique name.

The Options menu allows you to choose custom wallpaper or to remove the current wallpaper. You can also rescan the memory, which allows you to add new applications to TouchLauncher. The Preferences menu offers several ways to fine-tune the look of TouchLauncher for fitting to your needs. One of such feature is hiding the bottom toolbar which makes the program look a bit cleaner. You will able to hide even the icon names for clean up the interface to a much more extent. A Help menu is also provided from which you will be able to register TouchLauncher and will get a few tips about using TouchLauncher.

Minimum Requirements for TouchLauncher:

1. 200KB Free RAM

2. At least 2048KB of Dynamic Heap Size

3. Palm OS 5
