A few weeks ago the generous people at iWorldAustralia sent me an iPod Touch gadget to review. This time it was the Novothink Surge Solar Charger Case for iPod Touch. I was slightly disappointed it wasn’t the iPhone version but thankfully a friend in the office loaned me his iTouch to try it out with (I did try to jam my iPhone in but it was too thick for the case!).

As the name suggests, the Novothink Surge Solar Charger Case utilises the power of sun to keep your iPod Touch juiced up!

Yes, a solar panel forms most of the back of the case – don’t worry its covered by thick transparent plastic which will protect it from accidental breakage. This solar panel churns out 5.5V at 100mAh in full sun which means more than enough power for your iTouch.

Other things I liked about the Novothink Surge Solar Charger Case for iPod Touch, were the battery charge indicators and the fact that it doesn’t add a ridiculous amount of bulk given its solar charging capabilities built in. I can’t forget to mention the grippy material the rest of the exterior is made of which means that it won’t slip out of your hand too easily.

This case is perfect for those who tend to spend a lot of time outdoors and preferably in a country / city where sun rays are in abundance – not recommended for people to be indoors for most of their days. Cave-dwellers, sorry

This would be GREAT for all too frequent times where my beloved iPod Touch runs out of juice. I’m less likely to be suddenly committed. I often get very worried looks as I run madly around the nearest building trailing my ipod touch USB cable behind me.

Train rides, bus rides, all long and boring, and definitely need the extra juice and power on the iPod Touch.

Where was this crazy good gadget when i needed it two weeks ago in Alice Springs (poolside) and yesterday in Fiji. No im not a billionaire, my work takes me to these locations and i am forever in need of one of these for my iTouch gen2 – it would give me more reason to search out the blazing sun. Wow fantastic idea, how ideal for Australian weather? This would make life so much easier on those long Sunday drives, beach trips and picnics with no more frustration of trying to find a power outlet, just relax and enjoy the great outdoors. Two green thumbs up!!!!

WOW! This is the solution to a problem that I think many of us iTouch users have come across in our gaming/movie-watching/music-loving escapades. This will make my life, and i’m sure many other people’s lives, easier by not being tied to a wall for hours at a time wether it be with the iPhone or iTouch. I’m excited about this product and it bows it’s competition out of the water with the on-the-go charging.
