Nokia N97 hitting 75 countries this month

Nokia N97

2009 is going to be a vintage year for mobile devices. Part of this year’s pedigree is the much-improved-from-previous-version, Nokia N97 which will be released to 75 countries this month (June 2009) all over the globe.

Nokia N97 Won’t Dominate

While the degree of the launch is commendable, I’m concerned that the effort will not amount to the success that Nokia is dreaming about.

I’ve been following the hottest mobile device trends in the social media stream and unfortunately I haven’t seen too much focus on the N97. Much of the limelight has been fixed on the Palm’s mammoth software and hardware makeover in the form of the soon-to-be launched Palm Pre. And of course how can we forget the upcoming iPhone 3G 2009.

I would have released the Nokia N97 a lot earlier this year for maximum chances of success.

What do you think? Are you getting the Nokia N97?

yeah maybe :) , was 95% happy with my e71 … liked the keyboard. looked at the HTC Pro 2… seems a bit weighty so re visited the N97… the only thing it seems lacking is HSUPA so a possible replacement for my i900… Nokia tend to price all new phones high but the N97 could be near the cost a reasonable laptop when released ($1800 have read) and if true will either wait till later in year or look elsewhere…

Palah you go through phones like there’s no tomorrow! Please let me know if you do end up getting the Nokia N97 and your thoughts on it.

Cheers,

Yes I have already ordered my N97, I think the iPhone is lacking on interaction of applications. Nokia has always had the features to do it where you are, unlike the iPhone where you have to switch applications to edit a phone number or a name. I don’t think the N97 will be big in the US but else where yes.

Hi Andy, I have to agree that the lack of multitasking on iPhone is annoying at times.

Nokia is getting bulkier and bulkier now :D (as in, more into a PocketPC look-alike rather than the old style mobile phone)

Hi Arnold… had my i900 for about 6 months so time for another before warranty runs out(sell most on ebay for more than pay for)… :) buy phones outright and unless can get a hot deal happy to wait.
Andy… seeing you have ordered do you mind telling what you expect to pay for it?

All that’s missing is the TV receiver like in the Nokia N96; then you’ll have a HTC competitor with a winning edge on respectable brand and features.

Some of the new features worth to be considered, other things seems too big for me, I still prefer Palm for my particular choice.

Nope, this iPhone seems to make other phones pale into last year. IMO

I have pre-ordered the Nokia N97 – I have waiting for it since its unveiling last December (2008). The phone is still technically superior to the Apple iPhone even the upcoming iPhone 3G S.
