My oh my. Mobile World Congress is always full of juicy announcements and HTC didn’t let us down this year, with press releases on their new flagships the HTC Touch Diamond2 and the HTC Touch Pro2.
This post will specifically address the HTC Touch Diamond2 as I want to give credit to all the hard work HTC has done with this model alone.
First of all, behold the new version of the HTC Diamond:
Still a looker ain’t it?
What’s new about the HTC Diamond2?
Not only did HTC take feedback about the flaws of the previous version of the Diamond but they actually did something about it. The biggest problem with the old was battery life. A 900mAh battery meant that there was just enough juice to get you by on a busy day. With the HTC Touch Diamond2’s 1100mAh battery, they were able to get another 50% of standby time when used in WCDMA.
Although slightly larger and heavier than its predecessor, the HTC Diamond2 has a 3.2 inch display as opposed to the 2.8inch. Makes viewing DVDs on the road even more appealing. It does mean that if you are considering upgrading that your current HTC Diamond leather case won’t fit the HTC Diamond2. All other HTC Diamond accessories such as chargers should be fine though.
So droolworthy changes are:
- Battery capacity increased to 1100mAh: Biggest gripe of previous version
- Bluetooth A2DP that works: Stream stereo quality music via Bluetooth
- 5 Megapixel Camera: as opposed to 3.2 megapixel in previous
- MicroSD memory expandability: No longer limited to 4GB
- Twice the ROM: now 512MB instead of 256MB
- New version of TouchFLO 3D Interface
Hats off to HTC.
This just made my decision to wait for the Palm Pre a tad harder.
Are the changes enough to make you want to upgrade?
