This post was inspired by Engadget’s “Predictions for 2009″ where they give their impressions (mostly humorous) on where 2009 will take us.
Here are 6 of my Gadget Predictions for 2009:
- Nano version of the iPhone : the iPhone has been extremely successful. It’s only logical that Apple capitalize and create a cutesier version.
- Future iPods to incorporate WiFi to further increase usage of the AppStore
- Convergence in mobile devices to continue. GPS, WiFi, Camera and TV should become standard fare for all smartphones.
- Netbooks continue their strong sales growth. I laugh at that Toshiba salesrep-fogie I met early 2008 at some tech event saying that Toshiba can’t be bothered with these because “Toshiba didn’t make toys”.
- Plasma TVs will still be a popular choice due to falling prices and negligible picture quality improvements with LCD
- Many early adopters of Instamatic digital cameras will upgrade to their first Digital SLR, thus increasing Flickr Pro subscriptions!
Those are just some that come to the top of my head after a morning jog. (Yes jogging is one of 2009′s New Year Resolutions).
What are your thoughts?
