Telstra has recently announced a new service for its NextG subscribers. Just from the name Whereis Everyone, I take it you could guess what it’s all about. The new service allows you to locate people (through phones) using a-GPS technology.
You can get the software itself for free, but to be able to use the Telstra’s Whereis Everyone service, you’d need to send a request first which costs 50 cents. Receiving the requested location itself would cost another 50 cents. If you’re the type who goes trigger-happy and you think you’d use a service like this often, you can sign up for unlimited lookup which sets you back $2.95 per month, although you still have to pay 30 cents per location alert received. Unless you have kids you usually check up on, I don’t see why anyone would sign up for that unlimited service. By the bye, don’t be scared of being stalked: when you send out a request for tracking, the opposite party has to accept it first before you receive the location alert.
