Where to buy cheap computer parts in Hong Kong

sham_shui_po_golden_computer_centre1Hong Kong is a marvelous city. Despite the pollution, this major Asian city is a shopper’s delight. When it comes to your tech gadgets /computer parts, don’t be swayed by those smiling peddlers on the main roads. Save your money until you discover the “Golden Computer Centre“. I know the name sounds very corny, but it truly is one of the world’s (if not best) places to shop for computer parts.

In desparation to find a compact flash card reader to empty my full card, I reluctantly purchased one from the vendor closest to my hotel (Nathan Road). The guy sold it to me for HK$150. When I finally got the chance to visit the Golden Computer Centre, I found a similar reader for half price!

I’m writing this post in the hope that you will avoid making the same mistake!

The Golden Computer Centre is located just outside the Sham Shui Po train station. If you’re staying in Hong Kong, don’t bother with the taxi, just take the MTR – it’s one of the most efficient and easiest to use train services in the world. Once you’re there you’ll find everything from digital camera accessories, computer parts, gaming console bits and lots lots more.

Sham Shui Po is now locked as one of the first places I visit in my Hong Kong itenerary. If you love gadgets, make sure it’s one of yours too :)

You can also try Wan Chai Computer Centre in Lockhart Road in Wan Chai. 4-5 floors of gadgets, SW, and PCs.

Thanks for the reminder Dan.

Wan Chai is also a great place for computer parts. I went there the last time I visited the Computer Expo that happens every April and October.
