The new Western Digital My Book Mirror Edition is a dual-drive storage system designed to provide you with not one but two copies of your data. As someone who’s lost two hard drives at the same time, I more than appreciate the importance of a system such as this.
The Western Digital My Book Mirror Edition has a 1TB capacity per drive, connected via RAID 1 mirror mode right of the box. It could be, however, reconfigured to RAID 0 (Striped) mode so you can have the full 2TB storage capacity. Using GreenPower drives, the system apparently uses a third of the power other similar dual-drive storage system uses. The WD My Book Mirror Edition features USB2.0 connectivity and is designed with an efficient convection cooling architecture which eliminates the need for a physical fan.
