Vodafone has launched its new roaming price plan under “Vodafone Traveller.” Vodafone assigned countries into four designated zones, upon which the new price plan is based. Each zone in the map has a different price structure, so you can decide whether Vodafone Traveller is really the plan suited to your needs.
The new price plan is actually quite easy to understand. Basically, any call or voicemail you make is charged to your usual Cap or Plan, you just get charged extra based on the zone you’re in. The additional charge could be anywhere from AU$1 to $4, depending on where the world you’re in (check out the Vodafone Traveller page for the zone designations). Receiving a call, however, warrants a $1 per minute charge wherever you are. Finally, sending a text message is worth 75 cents each. Compared to some overseas price plans (especially in countries with developing economies), Vodafone Traveller still is quite expensive. So unless you’re frequently traveling, it will do you good to check out if there are affordable pre-paid price plans where you’re going first before dialing a number on your Vodafone unit.
