Nike race
On August 31, 2008, all we lazy bums can get off of our behinds and join in the The Nike+ Human Race 10K. If you have the Nike+ SportBand or the Nike+ iPod and Sport Kit, that is.
If you’re located in any of the 25 major participating cities (Melbourne for Australia), you can run with all the runners in the event organized by Nike and Apple. If you can’t travel to Melbourne though, don’t despair, you can still join in. Just run wherever you are in the world and upload your stats at the Nike+ web site. If you’re interested, you would need to register first in order to join in—everyone who signs up gets access to a free Nike training mix which can be downloaded from iTunes, and everyone who participates gets a free T-shirt. Fortunately, there’s meaning to The Nike+ Human Race 10K other than just Nike and Apple promoting their products; all runners could run for the charity they like which could be the WWF, the Lance Armstrong Foundation, or the UN Refugee Agency.
