Sony recalled laptops in other parts of the globe recently due to overheating incidents, but it looks like the company is concerned about its laptops’ well-being in Australia as well. Sony has issued a recall for 4,000 Vaio TZ Series laptops in the country.
According to news, Sony has discovered flaws in some TZ units manufactured from May 2007 to July 2008. Sony described the problem as “a symptom [that]may arise in which the unit’s plastic could be deformed in the DC jack inlet or LCD surrounding area due to extreme high temperatures,” something we casually call overheating. If you’re the owner of one of those notebooks, however, worry not because it’s not like Sony is 100% sure your laptop will be melting anytime soon. The company is offering a free inspection to check if your laptop has problems; and free repair in case it indeed has. To know if your laptop is a potential meltdown candidate, check out the Sony Support Center and read the instructions.
