Considered by many as a formidable competitor to the iPhone, Sony Ericsson’s XPERIA X1 gets a thorough examination from the folks over at The Boy Genius Report. The review’s conclusion is something I’ve known for quite a while now—the XPERIA X1 rocks.
BGR specifically praised the high-res 800×480 VGA screen which, according to them, is “the best-looking screen [they've] ever seen on a Windows Mobile device.” Even going under the sun doesn’t affect the screen’s quality. The smartphone’s audio was given quite a tepid mark, but its build or form was hailed “second-to-none” for its sturdiness and overall feel. Regarding connectivity, the tested HSDPA bands and WiFi connection proved to be great as well. The only complaint was that the keys of the slide-out QWERTY keyboard were almost flat against the frame. Even the slight pattern on top of the keys did little for tactile feedback. What BGR got was not a final product so I’m hoping the problem with the keyboard gets solved before Sony Ericsson XPERIA X1’s official release date.
