Yep, you do have alternatives to consider like the recently released Opera Mobile 9.5, but I’m sure there are some who really do prefer the Skyfire web browser above others. The good news is that Skyfire is now offering a mobile web browser compatible with Symbian s60-based devices. That’s great to hear especially to Nokia fans.
To refresh your memory (or in case you don’t know), Skyfire is a mobile web browser which can view AJAX-based services and flash videos without having to open a stand-alone application separate from, say, Internet Explorer. Google Maps works just fine on Skyfire too. The bad news is that it’s only currently available to registered Beta users (situated in the US) and not yet to the general public. Since it’s just in the Beta phase though, Symbian-guru was decidedly less than impressed with its performance and features, even concluding that it still has a “long way to go.” So don’t feel bad if you’re not Beta-testing, a fine-tuned version will surely be released in due time.
