Right now we’re in the era where 2.5-inch HDDs rule. But how long this “era” lasts, we don’t know. It could take some time before the smaller 1.8-inch HDDs take on forms with higher storage capacities. Luckily, Samsung just announced its 120GB 1.8-inch HDD that’s about the size of a credit card.
The hard disk drive doesn’t seem to have an official name yet, but it’s currently being referred to as the SpinPoint N2. The drive is enclosed in a glossy black chassis which is really quite appealing, if I may say so myself. Samsung seems to be convincing the Cupertino headquarters into using the drive for the iPod and the MacBook Air. However, Samsung will also be selling it as a stand-alone drive in the Chinese market. The 120GB model is quite pricey though, at $293 a pop, which just makes you re-think about the importance of having a hard drive that fits in your wallet in the first place. Check out the pics of the slick Samsung SpinPoint N2 below, as well as the ever-present gratuitous picture of a pretty lady with the gadget.
