Over at the UK, those who need a smartphone with rudimentary features can get the Samsung SGH-i200 with no strings attached (meaning it’s offered openly without contract with any provider). The smartphone is a very basic not only in looks but also in features.
The Samsung SGH-i200 is a Windows Mobile 6.1 Standard smartphone with a candybar factor which, while not exactly downright repulsive, doesn’t do much to attract either. It can connect to various networks (GSM/GPRS/EDGE and UMTS/HSDPA) and has Bluetooth 2.0+EDR connectivity with A2DP support. Of course, since it’s designed to be an entry-level phone, you have to make do with a 2MP camera and a 2.3-inch non-touchscreen QVGA display. Windows Live Messenger, Microsoft Office Mobile, and ClearVue also come pre-installed on the Samsung SGH-i200 which sells for approximately US$630.
