Just because Australia was omitted among the first countries to get the HTC Dream doesn’t mean you have to despair. It’s not clear whether it would be released in the country ever, but at least now we know that new players are coming to develop their own Google Android smartphones.
According to Telecoms Korea, Samsung and LG are expected to release their own Google phones by the second half of next year. Yeah, they admitted that they’re a bit late jumping in, but apparently, developments of their Google Android smartphones have been stalled due to negative responses about Google’s profit model. Advertising sponsors are reportedly shying away from the OS due to that, so Samsung and LG will only be releasing a small number of their Google Android handsets come 2009. Not all news is bad news for Google though. It seems that Motorola already has a 50-man team concentrating on the development of Android phones. The company is even looking to increase the number of people in its Android Team by 350. There are also some rumors floating around that the usually Symbian-based Nokia might be looking at developing its own Android phone as well.
