Yes, if you’re not one of the more affluent people on earth, the blow dealt by the PS3′s price might still be fresh in your mind. To help allay your anxiety, Sony will be launching the PlayStation Home today (tomorrow for our US-based readers).

What’s PlayStation Home anyway? It’s an online community that’s made of virtual 3D images. And yes, that includes a 3D character avatar for yourself. Through the service, you can chat and play games with other users from anywhere in the world. Downloading it and using the basic services are free, but some services require you to pay up, so better forget your credit card number for a while to avoid impulse spends.
